About the Author

Andrew Harrison is a detectorist, author, and creator of Detectorist Guide. Like many newcomers, he started out making mistakes, struggling to gain permissions, and spending time on land that produced very few finds.

Rather than giving up, he spent years studying the hobby, learning from experienced detectorists, and discovering what actually leads to better land, better finds, and more enjoyable days in the field. Much of that knowledge came through trial and error, costly mistakes, and countless hours of experience.

Over time, he developed a practical system for improving results, gaining access to better opportunities, and avoiding the pitfalls that hold many detectorists back. Along the way, he worked with museums and archaeologists, donated finds to local museum collections, and completed Oxford University’s Metal Detecting for Archaeological Practices course.
